Further details below of our upcoming CPD Event on 4th February 2026.

Title: Brief CAT: a workshop on 8-session CAT.

Summary:  This day workshop will enable attendees to deliver 8-session CAT to the service users they see.  The day will rely on attendees knowing the CAT basics and will not teach any CAT theory.  The day will (a) introduce attendees to the 8-session protocol and how to implement this, (b) use qualitative and quantitative evidence to inform the teaching and (c) will be a space to think about how therapists’ TPPs get in the way of enabling the ‘loose-tight’ focus that brief-CAT demands and requires.

Presenter: Stephen Kellett is a CAT Psychotherapist, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and a Professor of Clinical Practice and has a long-held interest and passion in developing and expanding the CAT evidence base.

Notice of CPD opportunity. Stephen Kellett is coming to Wales to run a workshop on using an 8-session CAT model as an intervention for self-harm, depression and anxiety. Steve has researched and published extensively on the use of 8-session CAT for various interventions and will highlight the value of short term, targeted CAT interventions. We are delighted to be welcoming our fourth intake of trainees to start in September 2025. Although our main application window is now closed, we will remain open for late applicants until the course is full or the end of July 2025 (whichever is sooner). If you have any questions about training in CAT or would like an application pack, please email susie@catcymru.uk.

Interviews for the course will be on 25th June 2025. It will be possible to accommodate late interviews if required.
