My CAT journey started with an introduction to the model when I was a clinical psychology trainee, and I was immediately struck with its practical usefulness for NHS work.  I loved how the model gave me a structure for understanding the way that someone’s past relationships or trauma affects them in the present and then that this insight gives the possibility of making significant change.  Over the next few years, I was able to have CAT therapy myself and complete CAT psychotherapist and supervisor training. In 2016, I was part of the core team that set up the first accredited CAT course in Wales. I have worked for many years in adult mental health in the Welsh valleys and enjoy using the CAT model directly, indirectly and as a supervisor of people working in a range of specialties.  In recent years, I have been delighted to see the CAT community in South Wales grow and was part of the team organising the ACAT national conference in Swansea in 2024.
